National Oil & Gas Safety Conference – ‘Safety for Generations’

In 2010, APPEA will again host its highly successful integrated safety event where everyone involved in the workplace will come together to talk about how to drive real improvements in the oil and gas industry's safety and health performance.

For the first time in 2010, the event will also host an exhibition space, enhancing the experience for all delegates through increased opportunities for information sharing and networking. The program will also incorporate concurrent streams customised for each of the following sectors within the industry: coal seam gas, subsea and drilling.

Stand Together for Safety

The APPEA Board recently made a decision to endorse the development of Stand Together for Safety as an annual event. Stand Together for Safety is a ‘stop work’ safety event held annually across the Australian oil and gas industry, contributing to improved and sustained safety performance. Teams stop work on a designated day to have a dedicated conversation about safety in relation to their workplace. Industry cooperation on this event highlights that safety is not a competitive issue. Collaboration is an effective way of reinforcing that success in safety relies on all parties – managers, supervisors, employees and contractors – working together to bring about significant and sustained improvement.

The official Stand Together for Safety ‘kick-off’ date will be Monday 3rd May 2010, following which the event will continue to roll throughout May.
