Australia’s upstream oil and gas industry is in transformation - changing in nature and expanding rapidly to meet growing local and overseas demand for cleaner energy. This together with the changing social, economic and political environment is creating several significant challenges.

State of the industry 2011 outlines options for industry reform and calls for the industry and governments to embark upon a coordinated policy reform effort that addresses impediments to the industry’s competitiveness and maximises Australia's returns from its petroleum resources.
